Sax Castle

Sax Castle

One of the most dramatic castles in the region, it is built on a sharp, thin mountain above the small town of Sax.

Sax castle is of Islamic origin. It was conquered by the Castilians in 1239. From its setting, it dominates the city. The keep, built above a cavern, and the 'albarrana' tower (separated tower connected by an arch) are preserved.

Entry to the castle is by leaving your passport at the local police station in return for the keys
