Animal Parks
Mundomar Animal Park
Mundomar
is one of several animal parks in the Costa Blanca area, but is the only one themed around aquatic animals.
Mundomar translates to Sea World in the English language, and a sea world is what you will get when visiting this excellent marine park. It is a unique experience with many exotic birds and marine animals to be observed in a natural environment.
The park is set on a hillside, on the right hand side of Levante Beach in Benidorm (when looking from the sea), right next door to the Aqualandia water park.
There is a wide range of animals to be seen,
and there are photo and swimming opportunities with dolphins and seals.
As always there is a good range of food outlets and themed shopping booths.
From Caudete take the A31 motorway towards Alicante, then transfer to the AP7 motorway or the N332 Coast road to Benidorm (Levante), then follow the signs. The journey should take no longer than 75 minutes from Caudete.

There is also a childrens zoo for the little ones to enjoy, and the Daktari Park which is a nursery used to raise the youngest animals. Other facilities include a picnic area, and restaurant specialising in local foods.
The park can be reached within 90 minutes drive from Caudete. Take the A31 towards Alicante, then the A7 motorway or the N-332 coastal road to Villajoyosa, and then head towards La Sella, passing through Orxeta. The park is approximately 15 km after La Sella near the town of Penaguila.

Vergel Safari Park
Just beyond the town of Ondara on the Northern shoulder of the Costa Blanca, lays the famous Vergel Safari Park. The park features lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, zebras, a series of primates, and Iberian wolves roaming free in wide open natural terrain.
Although the majority of the park is a strictly stay in your car zone, there is also a safer area where you can walk free amongst some of the less dangerous animals such as pigs, ponies and other domestic breeds. There is also a seal and dolphin area, where shows are put on several times per day.
Additionally there are go carts, mini trains, and childrens play areas, making this a great day out for all the family.
The park should be little more than 90 minutes drive from Caudete on the A31, then A7 motorways. Alternatively you could take the N-332 coastal road towards Valencia, turning off at Pego on the C-311 just after Ondara.
The park is open during the summer months, from 10am-7pm, and winter months from 10am-5pm.

Noah´s Ark
El Arca (The Ark) Animal Sanctuary, can be found 300 metres along the main road exiting Guadalest. The Sanctuary, which is also known as Noah's Ark, offers a home to a wide range of animals from various countries, the only criteria being that Serafín and his small band of helpers have enough space and money available to properly care for them.
El Arca is situated on the hillside of this beautiful part of Spain, and nearly all the enclosures are formed on earth and natural habitat rather than concrete. Although there are wire cages and barriers they are kept to a minimum, and there as a necessary precaution for both animals and visitors. The Sanctuary has a very natural, relaxed feel, and it is immediately obvious this is not a money making concern but a much needed refuge for a variety of creatures ranging from snakes and small mammals to lions, tigers and bears. Most of the animals can be seen at surprisingly close range, and the staff have painstakingly prepared information boards to explain the animals' histories, which make both interesting and poignant reading.
Until recently it was not widely known that this Sanctuary even existed, as all available money is used for animal care and there is little left over for advertising or marketing. However, in 2006 a visit by Spain's Queen Sofia raised its profile considerably. This was an important landmark for the Sanctuary, who rely on a nominal entrance fee of 5 Euros, donations and the generosity of visitors to continue its extremely valuable work.
If you would like to visit El Arca, guided tours are available, or visitors can just wander around as they wish, enjoying the peace and tranquility of this very special place.
